Low-carb twist on classic Chinese takeout using frozen broccoli rice instead of regular rice for a healthier option with all the flavor.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup beef broth
  • 0.25 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil, divided
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1.25 pounds New York strip steak, thinly sliced into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 (10 ounce) bags frozen broccoli rice
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds, or to taste
  • 0.125 teaspoon red pepper flakes, or to taste
Instructions:
  • Combine beef broth, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, 1 tablespoon sesame oil, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and brown sugar in a bowl, whisking until cornstarch and sugar dissolve.
  • Transfer the sliced steak to a separate bowl and generously drizzle with the remaining 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. Mix well until the steak is fully coated.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt butter until sizzling. Add broccoli rice, garlic, salt, and pepper. Sauté for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve the flavorful broccoli rice in individual bowls.
  • Sear beef in a hot skillet, stirring constantly for 5 minutes. Pour in sauce and simmer for an additional 5 minutes until it thickens.
  • Top the broccoli rice with a generous serving of flavorful beef, then sprinkle with sesame seeds and crushed red pepper for a burst of flavor and texture.
