Make easy and delicious beer and pretzel bread for your family using a bread machine.
Ingredients:
  • 3/4 cup regular or nonalcoholic beer
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons bread machine yeast
  • 1/2 cup bite-size pretzel pieces, about 1x3/4 inch, or pretzel rods, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 cup regular or nonalcoholic beer
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons bread machine yeast
  • 3/4 cup bite-size pretzel pieces, about 1x3/4 inch, or pretzel rods, cut into 1-inch pieces
Instructions:
  • For a 1 1/2-pound loaf using a bread machine, combine 3 cups of flour. For a 2-pound loaf, use 4 cups of flour in the bread machine.
  • Carefully measure all ingredients, except pretzels, and place them in the bread machine pan following the manufacturer's recommended order.
  • Choose the Basic/White cycle without using the delay cycle and opt for a Medium or Light crust color. Begin the machine according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Add the pretzels when the beep sounds or 5 minutes before the final kneading cycle finishes. Then, take the freshly baked bread out of the pan and let it cool on a rack.
