Simple yeasted sweet bread dough that can be shaped into dinner rolls, cinnamon rolls, or sticky buns.
Ingredients:
  • 0.33300000429153 cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.33300000429153 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided, or as needed
Instructions:
  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, warm the milk and sugar until just warm. Remove from heat, stir in the yeast, and let sit until foamy, approximately 10 minutes.
  • Combine flour and salt in the stand mixer bowl with the dough hook attached. Mix in softened butter, eggs, and the yeast mixture until dough comes together.
  • Transfer the dough onto a generously floured surface and knead until it becomes smooth and elastic, around 10 minutes.
  • Prepare a generously oiled large bowl. Transfer the dough into the bowl and gently rotate to ensure it's coated with oil. Cover and allow it to rise in a warm spot until doubled in size, approximately 1 hour.
  • Use the remaining oil to grease a cookie sheet or 9x13-inch pan.
  • After punching down the dough, shape it into 12 equal balls and place them snugly in the greased pan.
  • Allow the dough to rest under a cover until it puffs up, for about 20 to 25 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) while you prepare the other ingredients.
  • Bake until rolls are beautifully golden brown in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes.
