Decadent chocolate cutout cookies passed down from my grandmother. Rich, flavorful, and a crowd favorite. A must-try for all chocolate lovers, especially kids!
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1.25 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.125 teaspoon salt
  • 0.75 cup butter, softened
  • 1.25 cups white sugar
Instructions:
  • Combine the flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt by sifting; set aside.
  • Combine smooth butter and sugar in a medium bowl. Add the egg and mix well. Slowly incorporate the sifted ingredients to create a soft dough. Split the dough into 2 pieces, flatten, and wrap each in plastic. Chill in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) for the perfect cooking temperature.
  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface to 1/8 inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to create your favorite shapes. Keep extra flour nearby to prevent sticking. Space cookies 1 1/2 inches apart on cookie sheets before baking.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
