Best Irish soda bread recipe for St. Patrick's Day or a quick, delicious homemade breakfast bread any day.
Ingredients:
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 cup butter, at room temperature
  • 1.5 cups raisins
  • 1.5 cups buttermilk, at room temperature
  • 3 eggs, at room temperature
Instructions:
  • Heat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and butter a 9-inch cake pan.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Use a pastry cutter to gently incorporate the butter until well mixed, then add raisins. In a separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk and eggs, then add the mixture to the flour. Transfer the dough to the cake pan.
  • Place the bread in the preheated oven and bake until it rises and the top turns golden brown, for about 45 minutes to 1 hour. To check if it's done, insert a knife into the center - it should come out clean. Let the bread cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes before removing, then serve while still warm.
