Indulge in a luxurious and simple slow cooker bolognese, a comforting family meal that practically makes itself.
Ingredients:
  • 4.50 gm sugar
  • 18.20 gm extra virgin olive oil
  • 1kg 5 Star Extra Lean Beef Mince
  • 123.75 gm dry red wine
  • 700g bottle tomato passata
  • 2 dried bay leaves
  • 3 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1 tsp dried Italian herbs
  • 1 brown onion, finely chopped
  • 1 large carrot, finely chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, finely chopped
  • 2 tsp chicken stock powder
  • 138.75 gm tomato paste
  • 500g dried spaghetti
  • Grated parmesan, to serve
  • Fresh basil leaves, to serve
Instructions:
  • In a large frying pan over medium-high heat, heat oil and cook mince, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, for 8 minutes until browned. Pour in wine and cook for 2 minutes until reduced by half.
  • Place the mince mixture into a 5.5-liter slow cooker, then add passata, bay leaves, garlic, Italian herbs, onion, carrot, celery, stock powder, tomato paste, sugar, and 1/4 cup of water. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 hours.
  • Prepare pasta according to the package directions, then simply drain.
  • Top your aromatic bolognaise sauce generously over pasta, and sprinkle with freshly grated parmesan cheese and fragrant basil leaves.
