Elevate a basic steak sandwich with gourmet toppings for a spectacular dining experience.
Ingredients:
  • 23.40 gm wholegrain mustard
  • 4 (about 125g each) beef sandwich steaks
  • 4.60 gm olive oil
  • 1 brown onion, halved, thinly sliced
  • 8 thick slices wholemeal bread, lightly toasted
  • 40g baby rocket leaves
  • 4 (about 85g) light cheddar slices
  • 2 ripe tomatoes, thickly sliced
  • 200g drained canned whole baby beets, thickly sliced
Instructions:
  • In a small bowl, mix together the barbecue sauce and mustard. Use half of the sauce mixture to coat and rub the steaks.
  • In a medium non-stick pan over medium heat, sauté the onion in oil for 3 minutes until soft. Then, transfer to a heatproof bowl and cover with foil to keep warm.
  • Sear the steaks in the pan for 2 minutes on each side for a perfect medium cook or according to your preferred doneness.
  • On each serving plate, layer 1 slice of bread with rocket, steak, onion, cheese, tomato, and baby beets. Drizzle with the remaining sauce mixture and top with another slice of bread to serve.
