Indulge in a decadent black forest trifle with layers of rich brownie chunks, sweet cherries, and fluffy whipped topping. A delightful dessert delight!
Ingredients:
  • 1 box (19.5 oz) chocolate fudge brownie mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on brownie mix box
  • 3 cups halved pitted dark sweet cherries (from two 12-oz bags)
  • 1/4 cup kirsch or fruit juice
  • 1/2 cup hot fudge topping
  • 2 containers (8 oz each) frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 oz bittersweet chocolate
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F. Prepare and bake the brownie mix following the instructions on the box for a 9-inch square pan, incorporating water, oil, and eggs. Allow the brownies to cool entirely in the pan on a cooling rack.
  • In a medium bowl, combine cherries and kirsch. Allow to sit for at least 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Microwave hot fudge topping in a medium microwavable bowl on High for about 1 minute, stirring once, until softened. Mix in 1 container whipped topping until smooth.
  • Cut brownies into 1 1/2-inch pieces. Fill a trifle bowl with half of the brownie pieces and 1 1/2 cups of cherries in liquid. Add a layer of chocolate whipped topping. Repeat with the remaining brownie pieces, cherries, and plain whipped topping. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Just before serving, top with shaved 1 oz of bittersweet chocolate. Store covered in the refrigerator.
