Indulgent Black Forest trifle with cherries, chocolate, and cream - a timeless favorite for gatherings.
Ingredients:
  • 2 x 600ml ctns thickened cream
  • 2 x 300g pkts Chocolate Sponge Roll, cut into 3cm pieces
  • 60ml (1/4 cup) cherry brandy or kirsch
  • 600g bought chocolate custard
  • 1kg cherries, stems removed, pitted
  • 45g (1/4 cup) dry-roasted hazelnuts, coarsely chopped
Instructions:
  • Whip the cream in a bowl using an electric beater until soft peaks form.
  • Layer one-third of the sponge over the bottom of a 3L (12-cup) serving dish. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon of cherry brandy or kirsch. Pour one-third of the custard over the sponge. Add one-quarter of the cherries and one-third of the cream. Repeat this process for two more layers. Cover and refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight.
  • Garnish with the remaining cherries and hazelnuts for a beautiful finish.
