Create juicy blackberry dumplings using your slow cooker. Mix frozen berries with sugar and lemon juice until bubbling. Make sweet dumpling dough with Bisquick™, sugar, and milk. Drop dough into berries and let the slow cooker work its magic. Serve with cinnamon, ice cream, and enjoy the fluffy, syrupy treat.
Ingredients:
  • 1 package (14 ounces) frozen blackberries (3 cups), thawed and drained
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup Bisquick™ Original baking mix
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • Ground cinnamon
  • Whipping (heavy) cream or vanilla ice cream, if desired
Instructions:
  • Combine blackberries, 1/3 cup of sugar, water, and lemon juice in a 3 1/2- or 4-quart slow cooker.
  • Cook on low heat for 3 to 4 hours or on high heat for 1 1/2 to 2 hours until the mixture comes to a boil.
  • In a small bowl, combine baking mix and 2 tablespoons of sugar. Add milk and stir until dry ingredients are moistened. Drop the dough by spoonfuls onto the hot berry mixture and sprinkle with cinnamon.
  • Cook the dumplings covered on high heat for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Serve by spooning the dumpling into a dessert dish, layering with the berry mixture, and topping generously with whipping cream.
