Homemade blackberry ice cream: A refreshing blend of ripe blackberries in a creamy, smooth texture for that perfect summer treat.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pint fresh blackberries
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 0.5 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
  • In a food processor, blend together blackberries, sugar, and lemon zest until smooth. Allow the mixture to rest for 10 minutes.
  • After straining the mixture through a fine mesh sieve to remove the seeds, return the purée to the food processor. Then, add cream, milk, and vanilla extract. Pulse until whipped, approximately 30 seconds.
  • Transfer the mixture into an ice cream maker and freeze for approximately 20 minutes following the manufacturer's guidelines. Once done, move the ice cream to an airtight container and freeze until it reaches a firm consistency, anywhere from 2 hours to overnight.
