Popular Southern Italian dessert known as Cramma. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
  • 3 cups milk, divided
  • 0.25 cup cornstarch
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 lemon peel, cut into strips
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon
  • 3 ounces shaved semisweet chocolate, for garnish
Instructions:
  • In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of milk with lemon peel and cinnamon sticks. Simmer over medium heat until it reaches a simmer.
  • In a small bowl, combine cornstarch and sugar, then whisk in the remaining milk. Once the milk in the pan simmers, slowly pour in the cornstarch mixture while whisking briskly. Increase heat slightly until mixture reaches a gentle boil. Boil for 20 seconds, whisking continuously, then remove from heat. Discard lemon peel and cinnamon sticks. Stir in the pinch of cinnamon and vanilla extract if desired.
  • Transfer the mixture into a dish or mold, refrigerate for at least 6 hours, or overnight. Just before serving, top it off with some delicate shaved chocolate for the perfect finishing touch.
