Exotic buffalo burger oozing with creamy blue cheese filling.
Ingredients:
  • 2 pounds ground buffalo
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 0.5 cup crumbled blue cheese
  • 8 whole wheat hamburger buns, split and toasted
  • 0.5 cup mayonnaise
  • 8 leaves Bibb lettuce
  • 0.5 red onion, cut in 1/2-inch slices
  • 8 slices tomato
Instructions:
  • Fire up the outdoor grill to medium-high heat and give the grate a light coating of oil.
  • Season the ground buffalo with a sprinkle of salt and pepper, then shape into 8 balls. Make an indentation in each ball with your thumb, about halfway deep. Fill each indentation with a spoonful of blue cheese, then seal the meat around the cheese. Flatten each ball into a patty shape.
  • Grill the burgers to your preferred level of doneness on the preheated grill, about 4 to 6 minutes per side for well done. Ensure the internal temperature reaches 160 degrees F (70 degrees C) using an instant-read thermometer. Spread mayonnaise on the toasted buns. Assemble by placing a burger patty on each bun bottom, followed by a lettuce leaf, onion rings, and tomato slice on each sandwich. Finish by adding the remaining buns on top before serving.
