Blueberry bars with buttery crust, fresh blueberry filling, and cinnamon crumble topping - a delightful summer treat.
Ingredients:
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 4 cups fresh blueberries
  • 3 teaspoons cornstarch
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and generously grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  • Combine 1 cup of sugar with flour and baking powder in a medium bowl. Add salt and cinnamon for extra flavor if preferred. Use a fork or pastry cutter to incorporate the butter and egg until the mixture is crumbly. Press half of the dough into the prepared pan.
  • Combine 1/2 cup sugar and cornstarch in a separate bowl; delicately fold in blueberries. Spread blueberry mixture evenly over the crust. Scatter the remaining dough on top of the blueberry layer.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes or until the top is golden brown. Allow it to cool completely before cutting it into squares.
