Transform overripe bananas into a showstopping Brazilian caramelized upside-down cake for a perfect party dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 1 teaspoon softened butter
  • 1 dash all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 4 large bananas, halved
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9-inch baking pan with butter and dust with flour, shaking off any excess.
  • Use an electric mixer to blend 2 cups of sugar, oil, and eggs until creamy. Mix in milk. Gradually add 2 cups of flour and baking powder, beating until batter is smooth.
  • In a small saucepan, bring together 3/4 cup of sugar and water. Simmer until the sugar completely dissolves and the syrup becomes clear and thick, which should take about 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Pour the sweet syrup into the lined baking pan, delicately place the banana halves on top, and finally, pour the batter lovingly over the bananas.
  • Bake the cake in the preheated oven until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, which should take about 40 minutes. Allow it to cool for 10 minutes before flipping it onto a platter.
