Indulgent boozy hot chocolate for grown-ups with endless options to customize. Rich, creamy, and decadent.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups whole milk6 ounces semisweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • 3 ounces liquor of choice, such as bourbon, rum, or a cream liqueur
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch kosher salt
  • Optional toppings: mini marshmallows or whipped cream, chocolate shavings, sprinkles
Instructions:
  • Heat the milk gently in a saucepan over low-medium heat until it almost simmers without boiling (look for tiny bubbles forming along the edges).
  • Incorporate chocolate: Mix in the chopped chocolate and whisk for about 5 minutes until smooth and fully blended. The mixture should transform from a pale tan to a rich milk chocolate brown, ensuring there are no visible specks of chocolate and the pan is evenly coated.
  • Remove the pot from the heat and stir in the liquor, vanilla extract, and salt.
  • Allow the beverage to cool for about 5 minutes until it's safely drinkable. Pour the liquid into heatproof mugs. If a skin forms, simply whisk for a few seconds to blend it back in. Top with desired toppings and savor every sip. If you loved the recipe, show some love by leaving us stars below!
