Bread machine calzone filled with Italian sausage, pizza sauce, and gooey mozzarella, baked until golden perfection.
Ingredients:
  • 1.25 cups water
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1.5 tablespoons white sugar
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 1 teaspoon powdered milk
  • 0.75 cup sliced Italian sausage
  • 0.75 cup pizza sauce
  • 1.25 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
Instructions:
  • Prepare dough by arranging water, yeast, sugar, flour, salt, and powdered milk in the bread machine pan according to the manufacturer's instructions. Choose the Dough cycle. Once the cycle finishes, roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface.
  • Brown the sausage in a large skillet over medium heat for 8 to 10 minutes. Drain and set aside the excess fat.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to create the perfect cooking environment.
  • Roll out dough into a 16x10-inch rectangle on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Spread pizza sauce down the center, then top with browned sausage and cheese. Make diagonal cuts 1 1/2-inches apart on each long side of the dough, stopping 1/2-inch away from the filling. Criss-cross the strips of dough over the filling, sealing edges with water. Brush the top with melted butter before baking.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F for 35-45 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool for 5 minutes, then slice and serve.
