Delightful and versatile dish perfect for any time of day - breakfast, brunch, snack, or dessert!
Ingredients:
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
  • 2 cups Gold Medal™ Better for Bread™ flour
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons bread machine or quick active dry yeast
  • 1 cup canned apple pie filling
  • Powdered sugar, if desired
Instructions:
  • Carefully measure and add all ingredients, excluding pie filling and powdered sugar, into the bread machine pan following the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Choose the Dough/Manual setting, and avoid using the delay feature.
  • Take out the dough from the pan using lightly floured hands. Cover it and allow it to rest for 10 minutes on a lightly floured surface.
  • Prepare a large cookie sheet by greasing it. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface into a 13x8-inch rectangle. Transfer the rectangle onto the prepared cookie sheet. Spoon the pie filling down the center third of the rectangle. Using a sharp knife, make cuts from the filling to the edge of the dough at 1-inch intervals on each 13-inch side. Fold the ends up over the filling, then fold the strips diagonally over the filling in an alternating fashion, overlapping in the center. Cover the pastry and let it rise in a warm place for 30 to 45 minutes until doubled in size. You'll know it's ready when an indentation remains when touched.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Bake until golden brown, about 30-35 minutes. Transfer to wire rack to cool. Dust with powdered sugar.
