Decadent monkey bread recipe made effortlessly in a bread machine or by hand.
Ingredients:
  • 2.5 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons margarine, softened
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup margarine
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup raisins
Instructions:
  • Remove the baking pan from the machine. Add yeast, flour, cinnamon, salt, white sugar, 2 tablespoons margarine, and water in the order specified, ensuring the yeast does not come in contact with liquid. Choose the dough cycle and start the machine.
  • Move the dough to a floured surface and knead it 10 to 12 times before setting it aside to rest.
  • In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt 1 cup of margarine until smooth. Stir in brown sugar and raisins until well combined. Take the saucepan off the heat.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and generously grease a Bundt or tube pan.
  • Cut the dough into 1-inch chunks, then coat each chunk thoroughly in the brown sugar mixture. Arrange the dough pieces in the prepared pan, staggering them to create layers. Allow the dough to rise in a warm, draft-free spot until it reaches just above the pan, about 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Bake until beautifully golden, for 20-25 minutes in the preheated oven.
  • Carefully remove from the oven and cover the pan with a plate. Use oven mitts to hold the plate and pan, then flip both to release the bread onto the plate. Serve warm.
