Vibrant seasoned broccoli with sweet and spicy flavors, topped with red flakes for a visually stunning presentation.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound broccoli florets
  • 3 tablespoons finely grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 0.25 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 0.125 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Instructions:
  • First, bring a pot of water to a boil. Prepare a bowl with half ice and half water. Gently add the broccoli florets to the boiling water and cook for 1 to 2 minutes until tender. Quickly transfer the broccoli to the ice water to halt the cooking. Submerge the broccoli in the ice water for a minute or two, then drain and pat dry with paper towels. This step can be done ahead up to two days.
  • Combine the Parmesan cheese and brown sugar in a cup or small bowl, setting it aside for later.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat the oil until shimmering. Add the broccoli and sprinkle with red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Stir well to coat the broccoli and cook for 1 to 2 minutes. Remove from the heat and generously sprinkle with the Parmesan cheese mixture.
