Indulge in the perfect union of chocolate chip cookies and brownies with this irresistible recipe.
Ingredients:
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/4 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 package (12 oz) semisweet chocolate chips (2 cups)
  • 2/3 cup butter or margarine
  • 4 oz unsweetened baking chocolate, cut into pieces
  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 13x9-inch baking pan with foil and generously spray with cooking spray.
  • Combine sugars, softened butter, vanilla, and egg in a large bowl. Mix in flour, baking soda, and salt until a stiff dough forms, then stir in chocolate chips. Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the pan.
  • To make the Brownie Layer: Melt butter and chocolate in a 1-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly. Let it cool slightly. In a medium bowl, beat sugar, vanilla, and eggs with an electric mixer on high speed for 5 minutes. Then, on low speed, mix in the melted chocolate. Gently fold in the flour until just combined. Pour the batter over the dough in the pan.
  • Bake the brownies for 45 to 50 minutes until they start to pull away from the sides of the pan. Let them cool completely in the pan on a cooling rack for about 2 hours. Remove the brownies from the pan, peel away the foil, and cut them into 5 rows by 4 rows.
