Decadent brownie bars with a crispy peanut butter Chex™ crust elevate these treats to new heights.
Ingredients:
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Fudge Brownie Mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on brownie mix box
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate-flavor syrup
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 8 cups mini marshmallows, from 2 (10 oz) bags
  • 3/4 cup crunchy or creamy peanut butter
  • 10 cups Rice Chex™ cereal
  • 2 tablespoons semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 teaspoon vegetable oil
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F and generously coat the bottom of a 13x9-inch pan with either shortening or cooking spray.
  • Prepare and bake the brownies according to the instructions on the box. Allow them to cool thoroughly on a rack for about 1 hour.
  • Break apart the brownies in the pan with a fork, then transfer them to a large bowl. Mix in chocolate syrup until the brownies are moistened. Set aside.
  • Prepare a 13x9-inch pan by cleaning it and spraying it with cooking spray. In a 6-quart Dutch oven over medium-low heat, melt butter. Stir in marshmallows until completely melted and well blended for about 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in peanut butter until melted. Add cereal and mix thoroughly. Press half of the cereal mixture evenly into the bottom of the pan using a spatula sprayed with cooking spray.
  • Evenly distribute the reserved brownie mixture over the cereal layer, gently pressing it down. Spread the remaining cereal mixture on top to cover the brownie layer, pressing down firmly for a smooth surface. Allow to cool for 15 minutes before serving.
  • Place chocolate chips and 1/2 teaspoon oil in a small microwavable bowl. Microwave uncovered on High for 30 to 60 seconds. Stir until smooth. Drizzle over bars and refrigerate for about 40 minutes until chocolate is set. Store covered at room temperature.
