Pan-fried Brussels sprouts tossed in rich browned butter sauce.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 pounds Brussels sprouts
  • 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 small red onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, coarsely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions:
  • Fill a big pot with lightly salted water and bring it to a boil. Add Brussels sprouts and cook for 1 to 2 minutes until slightly tender. Drain and rinse in cold water to stop cooking. Trim and slice Brussels sprouts in half.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil until shimmering. Place Brussels sprouts in the skillet, cut-sides down, and season with red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Let Brussels sprouts cook undisturbed until the cut sides are golden brown, about 7 to 9 minutes.
  • Combine the red onion and garlic with the Brussels sprouts, cook and stir until the Brussels sprouts are tender yet still crisp, for 10 to 13 minutes.
  • In a cold saucepan, melt butter over medium heat until it bubbles and foams, about 5 minutes. Lower heat to low and stir constantly until butter turns golden brown, for 5 to 10 minutes. Drizzle the browned butter over the Brussels sprouts and mix well to coat.
