Elevate butter popcorn with a zesty twist using sumac and chili powder - perfect for movie nights or a zingy snack!
Ingredients:
  • 2.5 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 1 teaspoon sumac powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 0.75 cup unpopped popcorn
Instructions:
  • In a saucepan over gentle heat, melt butter with 1/2 tablespoon oil. Stir until just melted, about 1 to 2 minutes. Add sumac, chili powder, and salt to the mixture.
  • In a large saucepan over high heat, heat 2 tablespoons of oil. Add 3 popcorn kernels and cover with a lid. When they pop, it's time. Add the rest of the popcorn, cover, and shake until no more popping sounds. Take off heat.
  • Pour the popcorn into a spacious heat-proof bowl and allow it to sit for 2 minutes to ensure the butter coats it evenly.
  • Divide the butter mixture between two large bowls. Swirl it around the bottom and sides of each bowl. Add popcorn to the first bowl and mix. Then transfer the popcorn back to the first bowl and stir. Repeat the process with the remaining butter mixture and second bowl.Mix well after adding the popcorn each time.
