Indulge in chewy butterscotch brownies for the perfect sweet treat.
Ingredients:
  • 0.25 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.75 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 cup chopped walnuts
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously grease an 8x8 inch baking pan.
  • In a medium bowl, mix 1/4 cup butter and 1 cup brown sugar until smooth. Add the egg and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt, then mix it into the sugar mixture. Stir in the walnuts and spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  • Bake the brownies in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, until they start to pull away from the sides of the pan. Let them cool completely before frosting.
  • For the frosting, melt 2 tablespoons of butter with 1/4 cup of brown sugar and milk in a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Simmer for 2 minutes, then take off the heat, cool slightly, and beat in confectioners' sugar. Adjust consistency with more milk or sugar if needed. Spread over bars, allow to set, then cut into squares.
