Elevate sugar cookies with cake batter flavor, vibrant frosting, and sprinkles. Sure to delight both kids and adults. Fun and scrumptious treat that disappears quickly.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pouch (17.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ Sugar Cookie Mix
  • 1/2 cup from 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Yellow Cake Mix (dry mix from box)
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons milk
  • Liquid food colors (neon pink, neon blue, neon green, classic yellow and red to make orange)
  • Assorted Betty Crocker™ colored sprinkles
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Combine sugar cookie mix, 1/2 cup dry cake mix, 1/2 cup butter, and egg in a medium bowl, stirring until a soft dough forms.
  • Take the leftover 1/2 cup dry cake mix and place it in a small bowl. Shape the dough into 36 (1-inch) balls, then roll each ball in the dry cake mix until completely coated. Arrange the balls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Bake the cookies for 7 to 9 minutes until just set (keep a close eye to avoid overbaking). Allow them to cool for 1 minute before transferring to a cooling rack. Let them cool completely, approximately 15 minutes.
  • In a medium bowl, mix powdered sugar, 1/3 cup butter, and vanilla using an electric mixer until blended. Add 1 tablespoon of milk to achieve a smooth and spreadable consistency. Adjust the thickness by adding more milk gradually or a small amount of powdered sugar if it becomes too thin. Divide the frosting into 4 small bowls, approximately 1/4 cup each, and mix in food coloring to tint each bowl.
  • Spread a generous teaspoon of frosting on the bottom of a cooled cookie. Place another cookie on top, bottom side down, and gently press together. Roll the sides of the sandwich cookie in sprinkles for a delightful finish.
