California-inspired cheeseburger mac - a delicious twist on a classic drive-through favorite.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 1/2 cups thinly sliced onions
  • 1 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 box Hamburger Helper™ cheeseburger macaroni
  • 2 cups frozen French fries (from 26-oz package), cooked as directed on package
  • 1/4 cup Thousand Island dressing
  • 1 medium tomato, diced
  • 1/4 cup dill pickle relish
Instructions:
  • In a 12-inch nonstick skillet, melt butter over medium-high heat. Sauté onions for 6 to 8 minutes until nicely browned, then transfer to a small bowl.
  • In the same skillet, sauté the beef over medium-high heat for 4 to 6 minutes, stirring often until fully cooked; then drain the excess oil.
  • Add the mustard, milk, hot water, and uncooked pasta with sauce mix (from Hamburger Helper™ box) into the pot. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Lower the heat, cover, and cook for 9 to 11 minutes until the pasta is tender, stirring occasionally.
  • Layer the cooked French fries over the mixture in the skillet, followed by the onions. Drizzle with the dressing and sprinkle with tomato and relish.
