Quick and easy California burger skillet dish.
Ingredients:
  • 1 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 box Hamburger Helper™ cheeseburger macaroni
  • 2 medium tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 cup seasoned croutons
  • 4 slices American cheese, cut in half diagonally
Instructions:
  • Cook the beef and onion in a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring often, until the beef is fully cooked; then drain any excess fat.
  • Combine milk, hot water, uncooked pasta, and sauce mix from the Hamburger Helper box in a pot. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Lower the heat, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Layer tomato slices on top and generously sprinkle with croutons. Nestle 5 cheese halves around the edge of the skillet and place the remaining halves in the center. Cover and allow to cook for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes to further melt the cheese and thicken the sauce.
