Irresistible candy apples with a crunchy red shell, reminiscent of fall fairs and festivals.
Ingredients:
  • 15 craft sticks
  • 15 medium apples
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1.5 cups water
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 8 drops red food coloring
Instructions:
  • Coat cookie sheets with a touch of oil. Place craft sticks into whole, stemmed apples.
  • In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, mix sugar, water, and corn syrup. Bring to a boil and attach a candy thermometer. Let it boil without stirring until the temperature reaches 300 to 310 degrees F (149 to 154 degrees C) or until a drop of syrup in cold water forms hard threads. Remove from heat and stir in food coloring.
  • Grabbing each apple by its stem, immerse it in the delicious syrup, lift it out, and give it a twirl to ensure a perfect coating. Then, place it on the baking sheets to set.
