Quick and easy apple almond crumble, perfect for breakfast or dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 3 slices fruit bread
  • 100g butter
  • 125.00 ml flaked almonds
  • 5 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, sliced into thick wedges
  • 90.00 gm brown sugar
  • 63.13 gm thickened cream
  • Custard, to serve
Instructions:
  • Add bread to a food processor and pulse until you have coarse breadcrumbs (approximately 1 1/2 cups). In a frying pan over medium heat, melt 40g butter. Add the breadcrumbs and almonds. Stir constantly for 10 minutes until the breadcrumbs are crispy and golden. Transfer to a bowl and wipe the pan clean.
  • In a frying pan over medium heat, melt the rest of the butter. Add the apples and cook, gently shaking the pan, for 5 minutes until the apples are tender but still firm.
  • Stir in sugar and gently cook for 2 minutes. Pour in cream and simmer for 5 minutes until a thick caramel forms.
  • Fill bowls with the caramel apple mixture. Top with the breadcrumb mixture and serve with custard.
