Indulge in the classic delight of homemade caramel apples for a nostalgic treat!
Ingredients:
  • 6 medium apples
  • 6 wooden skewers
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Betty Crocker™ candy sprinkles, chopped candy or chopped peanuts, if desired
Instructions:
  • Clean and dry the apples. Insert a wooden skewer into the stem end of each apple. Lightly coat a plate with cooking spray.
  • In a 2-quart saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, milk, and salt. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until it reaches 230°F on a candy thermometer or until a small amount dropped into cold water forms a soft ball that flattens when taken out. Take off the heat and stir in the vanilla. Let it cool a bit.
  • Efficiently coat apples in caramel, ensuring they are fully covered. Then, dip the bottoms in candy sprinkles and place them on a plate until the caramel sets.
