Indulgent caramel swirls in rich coffee ice cream emulate the beloved caramel macchiato beverage in frozen form.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons instant coffee granules
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 0.75 cup caramel dessert sauce
Instructions:
  • In a large bowl, vigorously blend milk, sugar, instant coffee granules, and salt until the sugar completely dissolves. Add heavy cream to the mixture. Cover the bowl and place it in the refrigerator to chill for at least 2 hours before serving.
  • Transfer the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and freeze following the manufacturer's instructions until it's soft-serve consistency. Divide the ice cream and caramel sauce equally into two layers in a lidded plastic container. Swirl the caramel into the ice cream using a chopstick or knife.
  • Seal ice cream surface with plastic wrap, then let it ripen in the freezer for at least 2 hours, or overnight for optimal flavor development.
