Elevate the classic apple tart with caramelized apples for a delicious twist.
Ingredients:
  • 1 sheet ready-rolled reduced-fat puff pastry, partially thawed
  • 20.00 gm extra-light canola spread
  • 45.00 gm firmly packed brown sugar
  • 3 medium granny smith apples, peeled, cored, thinly sliced
  • Double cream, to serve
Instructions:
  • Cut out a 24cm circle from the pastry sheet.
  • In a 24cm non-stick frying pan, gently heat butter and sugar until the sugar dissolves, about 2 minutes. Add the sliced apples and cook for 10 minutes until they are tender and caramelized. Transfer the apples to a bowl, cover to keep warm.
  • Before cooking the pastry, gently wipe the pan with a paper towel, then return it to low heat. Once the pan is ready, place the pastry in and cook covered for 4 minutes or until lightly browned. Next, place a plate over the pan, flip the pastry, and slide it back into the pan with the uncooked side down. Spread the apple mixture over the pastry and cook covered for 2 minutes until the pastry is crisp and lightly browned. Finally, slide the pastry onto a plate and serve with cream.
