Slow-cooked marinara sauce with tender tortellini and melted cheese, served with crusty bread for a comforting meal.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 pound ground beef
  • 0.5 pound Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 1 (16 ounce) jar marinara sauce
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can Italian-style diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 (4.5 ounce) can sliced mushrooms
  • 1 (9 ounce) package refrigerated or fresh cheese tortellini
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 0.5 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
Instructions:
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef and Italian sausage until crumbly and cooked through, approximately 10 minutes. Remember to drain excess fat before proceeding.
  • Mix together ground meats, marinara sauce, tomatoes, and mushrooms in a slow cooker. Cook covered on Low for 7 to 8 hours until perfectly tender.
  • Combine tortellini with the savory marinara meat sauce, then generously top with a mixture of melty mozzarella and sharp Cheddar cheese. Cover and simmer on Low heat until the tortellini reaches the perfect tenderness, approximately 15 minutes more.
