Cheesy scalloped potatoes and ham casserole with onions, peas, and herbs in a rich sauce - the perfect comfort food dinner.
Ingredients:
  • 4 cups peeled and sliced potatoes
  • 2 cups diced ham
  • 0.5 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.25 pound Cheddar cheese, diced
  • 1 pinch paprika, or to taste
Instructions:
  • Assemble all ingredients.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) for the perfect temperature to make your dish.
  • Create tantalizing layers in a 2-quart baking dish by alternating potato slices, savory ham, and aromatic onions twice.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, stir together milk, peas, flour, butter, parsley, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder until thickened, 7 to 10 minutes.
  • Melt Cheddar cheese into sauce by stirring.
  • Cover the potato and ham mixture generously with the savory sauce, then sprinkle a dash of paprika on top before shielding it all with a layer of aluminum foil.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour until potatoes are tender. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until lightly browned.
