Easy, decadent cherry chocolate cake made with pantry staples and cherry pie filling, topped with rich chocolate frosting.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 0.5 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1.75 cups cake flour
  • 1.25 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a cozy 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and prep a 9x13-inch baking pan with a touch of oil and dusting of flour.
  • In a large bowl, cream together sugar and butter with an electric mixer until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla extract, then stir in cocoa powder until fully combined.
  • In a separate bowl, mix cake flour, baking soda, and salt. Add this flour mixture to the butter mixture and mix until just combined. Stir in cherry pie filling, then pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  • Bake in the oven until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted near the middle, for 30 to 35 minutes.
