Indulge in a decadent cake inspired by chocolate-covered cherries, perfect for sharing with fellow cherry-chocolate lovers!
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F and generously grease and flour an 8x1 1/2-inch round pan.
  • Combine all ingredients, except chocolate chips and pie filling, in a large bowl. Use an electric mixer to beat on low speed for 30 seconds, scraping the bowl occasionally. Increase the speed to high and beat for 2 minutes. Gently fold in the chocolate chips with a spoon until evenly mixed. Transfer the mixture into a pan.
  • Bake the cake for 37 to 40 minutes, or until it springs back when lightly touched in the center. Allow it to cool for 10 minutes, then remove from the pan onto a wire rack. Let it cool completely for about 1 hour before topping with pie filling.
