Decadent cherry chocolate chip cookies packed with Michigan dried cherries, chocolate chunks, pecans, and walnuts.
Ingredients:
  • 2.25 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 0.5 cup butter flavored shortening (such as Crisco®)
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 0.75 cup brown sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1.5 teaspoons almond extract
  • 1 cup dried tart cherries
  • 0.75 cup chopped walnuts
  • 0.5 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 (12 ounce) bag semi-sweet chocolate chunks (such as SACO®)
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease baking sheets. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt by whisking; set aside.
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to blend unsalted butter, butter flavored shortening, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, mixing in vanilla extract and almond extract with the last egg. Gently mix in the flour mixture until just combined. Fold in cherries, walnuts, pecans, and chocolate chunks, ensuring even distribution. Spoon rounded portions onto prepared cookie sheets.
  • Bake in the hot oven until the edges turn golden brown, for about 11 to 13 minutes. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
