Indulge in chewy caramel apple cookies - a sweet fall treat for any occasion.
Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cups old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 3/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 baking apples, peeled, chopped
  • 20 caramels, unwrapped
  • 2 tablespoons water
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 325°F and line cookie sheets with parchment paper.
  • Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl and whisk together, then add oats. In a large bowl, beat butter and brown sugar with an electric mixer until creamy. Beat in egg, milk, and vanilla until light and fluffy. Gradually mix in the flour mixture on low speed until blended, then gently fold in the apples.
  • Scoop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough onto cookie sheets, ensuring they are positioned 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 14 minutes or until golden. Transfer from cookie sheets to cooling racks and allow to cool completely.
  • In a small saucepan, melt caramels with water over gentle heat for 7 minutes, stirring until silky. Drizzle the luscious glaze over cookies and allow to rest for 15 minutes until firm. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
