Italian skillet dinner featuring chicken sausage, ricotta gnocchi, and broccoli, ready in a flash.
Ingredients:
  • 8 ounces ricotta cheese gnocchi
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • 2 tablespoons diced onion, divided
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic, divided
  • 2 chicken sausage links (such as Aidells®), sliced
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 2 teaspoons all-purpose flour
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
Instructions:
  • Bring a pot of salted water to a gentle boil. Add gnocchi and cook until they float, about 2 to 4 minutes. Drain.
  • Fill a saucepan with water just below the steamer insert. Bring to a boil. Add broccoli, cover, and steam for 4 to 5 minutes until tender. Drain and keep warm.
  • Start by melting a tantalizing teaspoon of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté 1 tablespoon of onion and 1 teaspoon of garlic until they release their irresistible aromas, around 2 minutes. Add the sausage and cook until it turns a delectable brown, approximately 5 minutes. Finally, fold in the vibrant broccoli.
  • Melt 1/2 cup of butter in a separate skillet. Add the rest of the onion, 2 teaspoons of garlic, and flour; cook and stir until lightly browned, about 2 to 3 minutes. Then, mix in the gnocchi.
  • Mix the sausage and gnocchi together; season with salt and pepper to taste.
