Chili with Ziti

Savory spicy beef chili with onions, garlic, kidney beans in tomato sauce, seasoned with oregano and cinnamon. Served on ziti pasta with melted Cheddar cheese.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried oregano, crushed
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, drained
  • 0.5 cup water
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 16 ounces dry ziti pasta
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
Instructions:
  • In a medium pot over medium heat, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until the meat is no longer pink; discard excess fat.
  • Combine tomato sauce, chili powder, oregano, and cinnamon in a pot and mix well. Add kidney beans and water; stir until combined. Season with salt and pepper to your liking. Let it simmer on low heat for 30 minutes.
  • 1. Boil a pot of salted water. Add ziti pasta and cook until al dente, about 8 to 10 minutes. Drain pasta.
  • Spoon the chili on top of the ziti and sprinkle with cheddar cheese.
