Indulgent apple-chocolate cake with rich chocolate chip topping - pure perfection!
Ingredients:
  • 125g butter, melted
  • 215.00 gm caster sugar
  • 65.00 gm cocoa powder
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 195.00 gm buttermilk
  • 500.00 ml plain flour
  • 10.00 gm baking powder
  • 410g can apple pie fruit
  • 50g butter, melted, cooled
  • 95.00 gm choc bits
  • 62.50 ml plain flour
  • 32.00 gm brown sugar
  • 2.50 gm mixed spice
  • 4.00 gm baking powder
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 180°C and prepare a 5cm deep, 23cm square cake pan by greasing and lining it, leaving a 2cm overhang on two opposite ends.
  • In a large bowl, mix together butter, caster sugar, and cocoa. Incorporate egg and buttermilk until well mixed. Sift flour and baking powder over the cocoa mixture. Gently stir to combine. Fold in apple pieces. Transfer the mixture into the pan.
  • Prepare the chocolate chip topping by mixing butter, chocolate chips, flour, brown sugar, mixed spice, and baking powder in a bowl until well combined. Spread the topping over the cake mixture.
  • Bake for 45 to 50 minutes until a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
  • Transfer to a wire rack to cool and then enjoy.
