Decadent and moist chocolate chip walnut cake, perfect for chocoholics. No frosting needed - simply sprinkle with chocolate chips and walnuts before baking for an easy and delicious treat!
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1.5 cups white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 0.5 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and prepare a 9x13 inch pan by greasing and flouring it. In a bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer on medium speed to blend the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract. Alternate adding the flour mixture and applesauce, blending well after each addition.
  • Spread the batter evenly in a 9x13 inch baking pan. Generously sprinkle with chocolate chips and chopped walnuts. Bake at 350 degrees F for 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool in the pan on a wire rack.
