Applesauce Brownies

Moist chocolate brownies with a hint of cinnamon made extra delicious with applesauce.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 cups white sugar
  • 0.5 cup margarine
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • 2 cups applesauce
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) for a perfectly cooked dish.
  • Combine 1 1/2 cups of sugar and margarine until creamy. Mix in the eggs. Gradually add the sifted cocoa, salt, baking soda, cinnamon, and flour to the sugar mixture, alternating with applesauce. Pour the batter into a 10 1/2x15 1/2-inch jelly roll pan.
  • Mix together the 2 tablespoons of sugar, 1 cup of chocolate chips, and 1 cup of chopped nuts. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the batter. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes.
