Healthier brownies with applesauce, less sugar, and whole wheat flour for guilt-free indulgence.
Ingredients:
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 0.33333334326744 cup applesauce
  • 0.33333334326744 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.33333334326744 cup white whole wheat flour
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 0.5 cup confectioners' sugar
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8-inch square pan by greasing and flouring it.
  • In a large saucepan, gently melt 1/4 cup of butter. Take off the heat and mix in white sugar, eggs, applesauce, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Add 1/3 cup of cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder, then mix well. Transfer the mixture into the prepared pan.
  • Bake in a preheated oven until the brownies have a perfectly gooey center, for about 20 to 25 minutes.
  • In a bowl, mix together 3 tablespoons of butter, 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder, honey, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and confectioner's sugar until smooth. Use the frosting to top the warm brownies.
