Indulge in irresistible double chocolate banana bread - moist, decadent, and utterly irresistible!
Ingredients:
  • 3 large ripe bananas (easily mashable)
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar (packed, light or dark)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (1/2 a teaspoon if using salted butter)
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup natural unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
  • Grease a 5x9-inch loaf pan with butter or cooking spray. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) with the rack in the middle position.
  • Blend or mash the peeled ripe bananas using a blender, food processor, or fork until smooth. Aim for 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 cups of banana puree.
  • Combine the wet ingredients and sugar: In a large mixing bowl, add the banana puree, melted butter, brown sugar, salt, egg, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth, ensuring no clumps of brown sugar remain.
  • Combine the dry ingredients: Whisk the flour, cocoa, baking soda, and allspice in a separate bowl until well mixed.
  • Combine the flour mixture with the banana mixture until just mixed, then fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Bake the greased pan of batter at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour until the loaf is firm and gently bounces back when pressed in the center. Continue baking if needed.
  • Cool completely: Once out of the oven, transfer the bread to a cooling rack and allow it to cool for 10 minutes in the pan. Then, carefully remove the loaf from the pan and place it back on the rack to cool to room temperature. Slice using a serrated bread knife before serving.
