Indulgent coffee cake with chocolate chips, cinnamon, and brown sugar for a moist and flavorful treat.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 cup dark brown sugar, or more to taste
  • 0.5 cup chopped walnuts, or more to taste
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, or more to taste
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 3 eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 0.75 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously grease a 9x12-inch baking dish.
  • Combine 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon in a small bowl. Mix dark brown sugar, walnuts, and 1 teaspoon sugar in a separate bowl. Whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a third bowl.
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to blend creamy butter and white sugar together. Incorporate sour cream into the mixture. Add eggs one at a time, making sure to fully integrate each egg before moving on to the next one. Finally, mix in the vanilla with the last egg.
  • Combine the flour mixture with the butter mixture, then mix in the chocolate chips until the batter is well-combined. Pour half of the batter into the baking dish, sprinkle the brown sugar-cinnamon mixture on top, and pour the rest of the batter over it. Evenly spread the walnut mixture over the entire surface of the cake.
  • Bake in the oven until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, approximately 35-40 minutes. Allow the cake to cool in the dish.
