Decadent cherry-studded chocolate cookies make a festive treat for any occasion.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon kirsch, if desired
  • 1 1/2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened baking cocoa
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 30 chocolate-covered cherries
  • 4 oz white chocolate baking bars or squares, chopped
Instructions:
  • In a large bowl, cream together sugar and butter until light and fluffy using an electric mixer. Add egg and kirsch; mix until combined. Gradually mix in flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well blended on low speed. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and line cookie sheets with parchment paper. Shape the dough into 1-inch balls and place them 2 inches apart on the sheets. Bake for 10-12 minutes until set. Press 1 chocolate-covered cherry into the center of each cookie and let cool for 1 minute before transferring to a cooling rack. Cool completely for about 30 minutes.
  • Microwave white chocolate in a small bowl until smooth. Transfer melted chocolate into a resealable plastic bag, cut a small hole in one corner, and drizzle over cookies. Allow it to set.
