Indulge in decadent double chocolate cookies topped with a luscious chocolate frosting.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/3 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 oz unsweetened baking chocolate, melted, cooled
  • 1 3/4 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 oz unsweetened baking chocolate
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons hot water
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 400°F and generously grease a cookie sheet with shortening or cooking spray.
  • Combine granulated sugar, 1/2 cup butter, buttermilk, vanilla, egg, and 2 ounces melted chocolate in a large bowl. Use an electric mixer on medium speed (or mix with a spoon) until well combined. Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Scoop the dough onto a cookie sheet using a rounded tablespoon, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, until center springs back when touched. Transfer to cooling rack right away and let cool completely, around 30 minutes.
  • In a 2-quart saucepan, melt 2 ounces of chocolate and 2 tablespoons of butter over low heat, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and mix in powdered sugar and hot water until smooth. Adjust consistency by adding water or powdered sugar as needed. Spread the delicious frosting over cookies.
