Vintage Depression-era cake recipe handed down through generations. Satisfy your cravings and nostalgia in one bite.
Ingredients:
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1.5 cups white sugar
  • 1.5 cups mayonnaise
  • 0.33333334326744 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2.25 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees (175 degrees C) and lightly grease two 9-inch cake pans.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, cocoa, and sugar. Add mayonnaise and mix well. Gradually stir in water and vanilla until smooth. Pour batter into prepared pans.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes, then cool, remove from pans, and frost with your favorite chocolate frosting.
